Choco the pit bull has been found safe and has been reunited with her family.
Piotr Lewandrowski and Choco take a nightly walk around their Heights neighborhood. But last Tuesday, shots were fired at the pair from a passing car. Lewandrowski was hit by two bullets, and Choco ran off, alone.
While Lewandrowski recovered in the hospital, more than 400 neighbors and strangers rallied to find the dog, and the Facebook page Finding CHOCO was posted. On Saturday, the dog was found on North Shephard Drive near West 15th Street when she jumped into a woman's car, frightened and soaked from rain.
Lewandrowski, who received gunshots to his leg and torso, has since been released from the hospital to recover at home.
With Choco.
