A crew with our TV partner KPRC Channel 2 suffered an attempted carjacking early Monday morning. KPRC reporter Sofia Ojeda took to Facebook to recount the event.

It was 4:40am when she and her videographer were downtown Houston getting ready to cover Astros. They were at the intersection of Texas and Chartres when their vehicle was side-swiped.

That's when an alleged drunk driver got out of his vehicle, walked up to the driver side of the news van and demanded to take it. Police approached the scene in their own cruiser and tried to help. The now wanted white male, then attacked the officers and jumped into their police unit and took off, dragging the female officer. More from our TV partner KPRC Channel 2.

Police are now looking for the police cruiser, an older Ford Crown Victoria, last seen going east on Commerce Street. The driver is describes as a man with brown hair, jeans and maroon shirt.

The news crew was taken to the hospital to be checked out.

The officer was injured.

Crime Stoppers is asking anyone to call 713.222.8477 with any info leading to the man's arrest.
