(Midland, TX) -- The West Texas drilling spree is making America one of the world's leading energy producers, driven by foreign demand. In 2015, Congress lifted a longtime ban on the export of American crude oil. The U.S. sold 230 million more barrels to other countries in the first half of 2018 than it did three years ago.
New jobs and surging production in West Texas made the foreign sales possible. The International Energy Agency says American oil, most of it from Texas, will provide 80 percent of increased global supply for the next seven years.
