The Pearland ISD confirms the diagnosis of a case of tuberculosis at Pearland High School, though it has not identified if the patient is a student or instructor.
The Brazoria County Health Department is investigating the case, and will be contacting the parents of students who have come in contact with the infected person.
According to the Mayo Clinic, signs and symptoms of active TB include:
Coughing that lasts three or more weeks
Coughing up blood
Chest pain, or pain with breathing and coughing
Unintentional weight loss
Fatigue
Fever
Night sweats
Chills
Loss of Appetite
