More pain at the pump for Houston drivers

If you’re planning to fill up at your gas station today, you’re in for more of a shock than usual.

The average price for gas around Houston is $2.60. That's up four cents from last week. Josh Zuber with AAA Texas explains why this is happening.

“Crude oil prices continue to rise because of geopolitical concerns. There are the Iran sanctions and the fact the economy in Venezuela is collapsing,” Zuber explained.

The price around Houston is still five cents less than the statewide average. The most expensive gas in Texas is in Midland, where drivers are paying $3.07 a gallon. The cheapest gas in the state can be found in McAllen and San Antonio at $2.58. The national average is $2.91 a gallon.
