U.S. Parents Again Dealing With Head Lice In Kids

Common Head Lice

Now that we're almost a month into the new school year, head lice is again getting attention.  An expert on this, Dr. Krista Lauer, the medical director of Lice Clinics of America, says many people don't realize how common this is.

Lauer says head lice infestations are annoying but not medically dangerous.  She also says hygiene has nothing to do with head lice.  She adds that head lice don't jump or fly and direct head-to-head contact is needed to spread them.  Lauer says pesticide-based products have created "super lice" and a one-time medical office "heated air" treatment method is preferred.

You can buy a heated air device yourself on Amazon.
