Facebook breach impacts 50 million users

Facebook was victimized again by a hack, this one impacting no less than 50 million users last week.

So, you might be wondering if you were affected. Kami Huyse at Zoetica Media says that depends whether or not you had to sign in when you weren't expecting to.

“If you had to log back in at any point since Friday you probably were affected,” Huyse said.

If you didn't have to log back in, you were not exposed. But it's still a good idea to change your password every month or so. Huyse says this isn't the first time this has happened, and it won't be the last time, either.

“Hackers are smart, and the longer the channels are open, it’s a good idea to take that extra step and change your security every couple of months, something like that,” Huyse explained.

News of the hack led Facebook stock to fall almost 3% on Friday, and the news of this breach comes just months after a British analytics firm got access to the private information of up to 87 million Facebook users.
