Some new laws going into effect today across the country. In Maryland, it's illegal to threaten someone with economic harm or shame in order to have sex. A law banning bump stocks as well as a red flag law that allows Maryland families and law enforcement to ask courts for an order to temporarily restrict firearm's access to people found to be a risk to themselves or others are also in effect. Nearly two dozen laws are on the books in Florida. Judges can now forbid people convicted of animal cruelty from owning pets. Another law will make it easier for authorities to catch people who access child porn. Previously, internet service providers were able to let users know if they were the subject of a police investigation, but the new law requires ISPs to conceal that information for 180 days.
