Astrodome Makeover Delayed Till Next Year

(Houston, TX)  --  The Astrodome renovation project is now rescheduled to start early next year.  Harris County commissioners have approved 105-million-dollars for the Dome's makeover, which was supposed to begin in October.

The county engineering department says the 17-month construction project will begin after the 2019 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

The Astrodome's floor will be raised to create underground parking and a nine-acre space for conferences, festivals, and commercial activity.  The Dome opened in 1965, was home to the Astros and the Oilers from the '60s to the '90s, and was condemned in 2009.
