District officials say students alerted parents and authorities about an undisclosed threat that was posted on social media. Police are looking into the matter. Law enforcement is looking into the matter, but the nature of the threat was not made public, nor would investigators reveal what platform was used to convey the threat.
District officials posted the following message on their Facebook page:
"Late last night / early this morning the CISD Administration became aware of a threat made on social media against the school. Therefore we will close school on Monday, September 24, 2018. The safety of our students and employees is our top priority. Columbus ISD takes these threats seriously, and we have turned this over to the local authorities. We hope the person responsible for this is prosecuted the fullest extent of the law."
