The middle class is either shrinking or getting bigger depending on which political ideology you happen to subscribe to. There is also a new way to tell if you belong.
And it's a new 'calculator' that's been put together by the Pew Research Center that factors in where you live and how much money you make.
“A household of three earning from $45K to $136K would be considered a middle class household,” said Rakesh Kochhar, who is a researcher with Pew.
Kochhar also told KTRH News that the middle class range in Houston is from 46,000 dollars to 138,000 dollars annually.
“Houston looks very similar to the United States overall. Nationally, 51 percent of the adult population lives in middle class households,” he explained, adding that Houston has about 48 percent of people living in a middle class home.
