It's been a couple of years since President Trump was elected and there's been little or no progress on building a border wall. Some republicans worry the lack of significant action on illegal immigration will keep republicans away from the polls in November.
William Gheen of the Americans for Legal Immigration PAC says building the wall could have and should have started long before now.
"There's been encouraging things said by the President but the big problem is there's a big disparity between what Trump says and what actually happens."
Gheen says republicans keep talking about illegal immigration, but all of their proposed legislation includes amnesty.
"The patience of a lot of people with Trump, who were willing to give him the benefit of the doubt, is wearing out."
Gheen says the GOP's lack of seriousness about illegal immigration is turning off republican voters.
"All the immigration bills they've put up and Trump has endorsed have unfortunately included amnesty for millions of illegal immigrants, which will turn into future democratic voters, which is more than enough to give the democrats permanent control of elections and thus, the government."
Many polls show illegal immigration is the top issue for GOP voters.
