(Houston, TX) -- The Houston Fire Department's new Marine Group is training firefighters to operate the group's new high-water rescue vehicles. On Thursday, firefighters with Station 78 trained on the new vehicles in the parking lot of an old shopping center near Westheimer and Highway 6 in West Houston.
The HFD now has eight high-water rescue vehicles. The city bought four of them, and corporate sponsors of the Firefighters of Houston Foundation donated the other four. Seven will be ready for action if they're needed in this weekend's expected rains.
