It's the second year in a row General Motors has had to recall units. In 2014, GM had to recall trucks with power steering problems. This year, GM is recalling 1 million SUVs and pickup trucks. Cadillac is even thrown in the recall this time around.
The problem: power-assisted steering can briefly shut down during a voltage drop and suddenly return, mainly during low-speed turns. Thirty consumers have reported crashes as a result.
On the list are Chevrolets including:
- 2015 Silverado
- GMC Sierra 1500 pickups
- Chevy Tahoe
- Suburban SUVs
- 2015 Cadillac Escalade
- GMC Yukon SUVs
Once the recall begins, car dealers update the power steering developer software. The fix reportedly won't cost you a thing.
