A baby boy, just hours old, and with his umbilical cord attached, is recovering after being left at a church overnight on the north side of the city. A man at the church discovered the newborn, and quickly took it to Fore House No. 63, where HFD District Chief Steve Dunbar tells KTRH firefighters jumped into action.
“Paramedics assessed the infant. He appeared to be a few hours old, full term and stable. The baby was transported to the hospital in stable condition,” Dunbar said.
Police are investigating but the drop off appears to fall under the Baby Moses Law, which applies to babies 60 days old or younger who are unharmed and safe. The law allows parents to take their baby to any hospital, fire station or EMS station in Texas.
