‘Home Run on Wheels’ campaign hits Houston

If you have seen a large RV around Houston all week that says ‘Home Run on Wheels,’ you might have wondered who it was and what it was doing. Well, the RV has been hanging around Houston all week, and will be at Minute Maid Park again on Saturday.

The RV was an idea that sportswriter Ron Clements and his wife Patti came up with. Ron Clements told KTRH that what the couple has done this year has been a road trip with a cause.

“We are trying to raise awareness of the needs of children in the foster care system,” Clements explained. “There are enough foster kids to fill the rosters of every Major League Baseball team and their farm systems. There’s a huge need for foster parents.”

Clements tells KTRH that he and his wife are leaving the Houston area after tonight’s game, that their trip has now taken them to 34 states and two countries since March.
