Motorists who drive from Loop 610 eastbound to State Highway 288 northbound and 610 westbound to 288 southbound got a break this week when new ramps were opened.
But now, the old ramps must come down, and that means some major closures will be happening over the next three weekends.
The closures start tonight at 9 and run through Saturday at noon. Lanes will reopen for the extra traffic expected for the Texans preseason game, but shut down again at midnight Sunday until 5 a.m. Monday.
The two other weekend closures will begin on Fridays at 9 p.m. and end on Mondays at 5 a.m.
Drivers can use Bellfort to avoid the South Loop closures, and Almeda to avoid the SH-288 shutdowns.
All work may be postponed due to inclement weather. Listen to KTRH for the latest traffic conditions, or check our traffic page.
