Texans win; Watson plays

In terms of its importance, it was a Pre-season game. In fact, it was just the Pre-season opener. So if the score didn’t matter to you, maybe it was the fact that the Texans got their most exciting offensive player back on the field.

The Texans scored a 17 to 10 win over the Chiefs in Kansas City last night. But there’s a good chance many of you won’t remember the final score as much as you’ll remember that quarterback Deshaun Watson returned to game action after blowing out his knee last season.

It wasn’t a lot of action. In fact it was just one series, and Watson threw just one pass. But it was Watson who gave Texans fans hope for the future last year, and it was Watson who is giving hope to the fans that this year will not become a repeat of what last year was.

“It was cool. It was a great time to get the juices flowing a little bit, hear the fans, and walk on the field,” Watson said after the win.

Backup quarterback Brandon Weeden saw most of the action at quarterback and threw a pair of TD passes in the victory.

The Texans bring training camp back to Houston tomorrow, and host the 49ers at NRG Stadium on August 18th.
