Services are planned today for Houston cardiologist Dr. Mark Hausknecht. He was shot and killed in the Medical Center last Friday while on his bike. He was on his way to work when someone passing him, also on a bike, turned his direction and pulled a gun.
Dr. Hausknecht was shot in the torso, head and upper left extremity, according to the Harris County Medical Examiner.
Law enforcement authorities are still searching for the gunman who got away on a bicycle. A sketch of the man wanted was released this week. A $5,000 reward is available for anyone with information leading to the arrest of the person responsible.
Methodist Hospital has issued a formal statement on the hospital's website in memoriam of Dr. Mark Hausknecht.
