Motives of Border Wall Foes Called Into Question

A host of special-interest groups – many on the left -- are asking the Trump administration for more time to make public comments on the border wall.

Liberals continue to fight the president on his top campaign promise.

Ira Mehlman of the Federation for American Immigration Reform says one protest tactic is to claim environmental consequences.

He says to build it nevertheless – and indeed, the Trump administration is moving ahead with plans to build 33 miles of wall or barriers in the Rio Grande Valley.

Some three dozen environment, immigration and faith-based activists are among those demanding that the public-comment window be extended. Am Among their arguments is that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security isn’t acting in good faith.

Mehlman, meanwhile, tells Newsradio 740 KTRH he is suspicious of the motives of opponents ... particularly among those who say they're concerned about the environmental impact of a wall.
