In 1971, three children in a family was ideal. The oldest, the youngest and the middle child - whom family psychologist Dr. John Huber says is a great negotiator, like middle children Walt Disney, Warren Buffet and Donald Trump. “Whether you’re negotiating a movie scene, a billion dollar contract or with the President of Russia, it’s all from the skills they developed when they were negotiating with and between their siblings years ago,” comments Dr. Huber.
In 2018, however, middle children may be going extinct. Americans have stopped having them! With women having children at an older age and the rising cost of raising a child, most families are opting to stop at 2. In 20 years we may be hard up for bargainers and collaborators. For those of you still here, celebrate August 12th --- it's National Middle Child Day.
