Children's Museum to Give Away Bike Helmets

The Children’s Museum of Houston has joined forces with the Texas Medical Association’s “Hard Hats for Little Heads” to give away free bike helmets and teach kid how to wear them properly.

The giveaway is limited to the first 100 children to arrive during Free Family Night from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, July 19.

“Hard Hats for Little Heads” bicycle helmet giveaway program was created to help reduce head injury among Texas children.

"A properly fitting helmet can prevent almost all head injuries — up to 85 percent — the most common cause of disability or death in a bicycle crash," according to the museum.

Since 1994, TMA has given away more than 300,000 helmets to Texas children.

The Children’s Museum of Houston is located at 1500 Binz St. ., Houston, TX 77004

Summers hours are 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and noon-6 p.m. Sundays.  Free Family Night Thursdays are from 5-8 p.m.
