POLL: Fourth of July events could be plagued by rain

If you need something to do this Fourth of July, there are plenty of choices around Houston. In fact, here is a list of some of the events that are happening around the area.

Of course the big event is the Freedom Over Texas Celebration held downtown which will be headlined by country star Chris Young. The weather forecast doesn’t look good, though. That said. Producer Susan Christian with the Mayor’s Office of Special Events is prepared for any contingency.

“We have the ability to inform our patrons if we need to, and we have evacuation plans should those need to take place,” Christian told KTRH News.

In Galveston, their July 4th parade is scheduled to take place along the Seawall right before their fireworks show. Organizer Jay Carnes says they are expecting a big crowd, too.

“Nobody throws a parade like Galveston. We’ve already proved that with Mardi Gras,” Carnes said.

If the weather is bad in Galveston, Carnes says their plan is to move things back one day, to Thursday.
