A certified school safety trainer says a concealed-carry program is available especially for teachers and school employees.
Antonio Orozco says the School Safety Certification program aims to show armed instructors how to handle a weapon in a school setting. State law requires school safety certification to cover student protection, interaction with police and EMS, keeping an intruder out of a classroom, and improving gunshot accuracy in an emergency.
More than 170 Texas school districts let teachers or staff carry concealed handguns in school.
