Houston's Ice Pick Killer Set to Die

Barring any last minute stay of execution, Houston's so-called "ice pick killer" will be put to death in Huntsville Wednesday evening.

Authorities describe Danny Bible as the worst of the worse. The 66-year-old will get the needle for a murder four decades ago.

"Inez Deaton, she was a young mother stabbed 11 times with an ice pick and left along the slope of a Houston bayou, that murder went unsolved for two decades,” says Jeremy Desel, spokesman for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

Just five years later, Bible was convicted of separate murder charges.

“Bible went to prison for killing his sister-in-law and her infant son,” says Desel. “He then killed that woman's roommate and left her body hanging from a fence along a roadside.”

It wasn't until a 1998 rape in Louisiana where a woman escaped being stuffed in a duffel bag that Bible finally confessed to Deaton's 1979 murder.

Bible will be the state's seventh death row inmate executed in 2018. Seven more are already scheduled.
