A new study by Edelman finds that four in 10 people have deleted a social media account in the past year due to fake news and privacy concerns.
What about those people who didn’t delete accounts?
The Authenticity Institute’s CEO Wes Kussmaul said there’s not much of a difference between the two groups.
“There are commonalities among users of social media and I think that everyone’s concerned about privacy and fake news,” said Kussmaul. “Well, I think that everyone has a different threshold, largely dependent upon the level of their involvement in social media.”
He said people need to be more conscientious on social media and take internal vigilance.
He said there’s solutions to social media that provides real privacy and security through digital signature technology that assures you a news story came from an individual who takes responsibility for that article and the story can’t be altered without red flags going off.
