POLL: Starbucks closing 8,000 stores today

If you’re looking to go on a Starbucks run, you’re going to be very disappointed this afternoon.

That's because 8,000 company owned Starbucks, the stand alone stores, are closing for 'racial bias training.'

“There’s an opportunity for us to provide clarity, and in addition to that, there’s training,” CEO Kevin Johnson told CNBC after two African American men were arrested at a Starbucks in April while waiting for a friend.

So is this closing necessary? Apostle Claver Kamau-Imani of Raging Elephants doesn't think so.

“They are sensitive to the image they have cultivated, especially those who are on the left, Kamau-Imani said.

And at the end, he tells KTRH this is just a publicity stunt.

“How are you going to exorcise bigotry out of someone in a one day class? I don’t get that,” he stated, adding that Starbucks wants the positive publicity they’ll get from the mainstream media because of this move.
