Research: Online streaming killing couples' sex lives

New research finds that couples are watching programs together in bed, rather than being romantic.

Lancaster University UK researchers found online streaming is busiest between 10 and 11 p.m.

Marriage, family and sex therapist Dr. Viviana Coles does find it interesting that viewership went up then.

“A lot of people are waiting until around 10 p.m. to initiate any sort of sexual activity,” said Coles.

She said of course you need your "me time" or escapism, but make sure you aren't leaving your partner out.

“I think that making sure that you do you spend some time in bed that isn’t connected to either your phone or TV is probably going to set you up for the most satisfying sexual experiences,” said Coles.

She said start winding things down at 8 p.m.

"Couple time" should begin at 9.

By 10 p.m., try to fall asleep.

The research was published in the journal Energy Research and Social Science.
