Popular Smoke Detector is Under Recall

Your home may be a little less safe than you realize.

More than 450,000 smoke detectors are being recalled by Kidde over a manufacturing defect. A yellow cap was left on the dual-sensor alarms, which may prevent the devices from detecting smoke.

According to Consumer Reports, dual-sensor smoke detectors use photoelectric and ionization technology to detect both smoldering and fast-moving fires.

The recall affects the PI2010 and PI9010 models. The numbers can be found on the back of your unit. CLICK HERE TO REGISTER FOR A REPLACEMENT

Late last year, Kidde recalled more than 40-million fire extinguishers, because the units can become clogged or fail to discharge during a fire.
