Another explosion in Austin has left two people with non-life threatening injuries. The explosion in the Travis Country area, north of Gaines Creek Park is the fourth deadly explosion in recent weeks. Previous bombs went off when victims handled packages left at doorsteps.
"The possibility exists that this device was triggered in a different mechanism - that being a trip wire - and that is something that's very important for this community to understand so that we can all remain safe while we work through this investigation."
Austin Police Chief Brian Manley is asking residents not to approach suspicious packages. He says school buses will not be sent into the neighborhood this morning, adding students will be excused for being tardy or absent.
Despite the differences between last night's explosion and previous detonations, investigators are not discounting the possibility the incidents are all related.
At least $115,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest, through two different reward funds.
