It’s one of the things that goes along with calling yourself a ‘World Champion.’ You get to visit the White House and shake hands with the President of the United States.
That’s what is going to happen later this morning when the World Series Champion Houston Astros visit President Donald Trump at the White House. The visit is scheduled to get underway at 11 o’clock this morning.
The Astros won the first World Series title in franchise history by defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers in seven games last season. Today’s visit, according to General Manager Jeff Luhnow is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
“It’s an honor. The only people that get to go are world champions. I’m looking forward to it,” Luhnow said.
Manager A.J. Hinch expressed the same sentiments.
“We’ll enjoy the tradition of seeing the White House as the champions,” Hinch stated.
The Astros will open up the regular season on March 29th against the Rangers in Arlington.
