What’s so funny?

Politics has always been the butt of many jokes. Now, late night show hosts have turned away from their comedic roots and into angry editorials.

Texas Tech Pop Culture librarian Rob Weiner said they’re not even funny anymore.

“What’s being passed off as stand-up comedy is nothing but anger towards the political situations that we have today,” said Weiner.

He said "comedians" find politics an easy target.

“We don’t have comedians like John Belushi anymore, they just make them that great anymore. They’re in their twilight years, they want to take a break from it,” said Weiner.

He says comedians could still make fun of politics, yet point out funny solutions in a positive manner.

He says sketch comedy is alive and well.
