An armed robber fatally shot by officers on Thursday morning is now identified as Anthony Joe Williams.
Police say Williams robbed an Exxon at South Post Oak and Willowbend at about 8:30 a.m. He reportedly fired shots at a store clerk who took a picture of his license plate, and also shot at a customer who pulled in to buy gas right after the robbery.
Williams was involved in a traffic accident on the 610 West Loop in Bellaire a short while later. When police responded, he took off on foot, and tried to carjack several drivers before an officer shot him.
