Forums Set for Harvey Flood Victims Still Seeking Aid

Scores of flood victims from Harvey say they have yet to see any of the tens of millions of dollars raised to assist them after the storm.

At-Large City Councilman Michael Kubosh is helping organize four town hall meetings across Houston to put Harvey victims in touch with anyone who can assist them.

“It just concerns me because most of the money is being given to non-profits and where's the accountability?  Where's the money going?” he asks.

“People are still displaced and they're in motels, they're living with families, I have seniors that are living with their children and they need help.”

Kubosh has been a vocal critic in how the funds have been handled met with roughly 300 Harvey victims at a breakfast Thursday.

“I actually had to send a letter to the mayor and to city council, because once the Harvey Foundation released the grants they gave out to different communities, they also sent out zip codes, and 77029 was not included,” said one woman.

The first public forum is at 10am Monday at South Park Baptist Church on Houston's south side.  The second will be at 6:30pm Tuesday at Mt. Cannon Baptist Church in East Houston.
