Dozens of Roads Closing for Marathon

Prepare yourself for road closures ahead of Sunday’s Chevron Houston Marathon.

In addition to dozens of street closures, the 610 West Loop southbound exit ramp to Hidalgo and Richmond will be shut down.  The Marathon starts downtown, makes its way down Waugh and Kirby, passes through the Rice University area, then heads through Uptown and as far west as Chimney Rock before taking Memorial Drive back downtown.  Road closures near the marathon's route will take effect at 6 a.m. Sunday.

Meanwhile, the top two women's seeds are out of the race.  Officials announced that Mamitu Daska couldn't compete due to emergency dental work, while Abebech Bekele has visa issues.
