Package Thieves are True Grinches

Thieves are hitting Houston-area neighborhoods in the annual rash of stealing Christmas packages.

Opportunistic crooks swipe packages from eBay, Amazon, and other retailers from front porches and doorsteps in broad daylight while residents are at work.

Houston police don't have an exact count of the reports of stolen packages this week, but a spokesman says there's been a spike of thefts in the Heights.

Police also are meeting with delivery drivers at UPS and FedEx to train them to notice when possible thieves are tailing them.
