In the wake of the sexual misconduct allegations against Alabama senate candidate Roy Moore, the senate has unanimously passed a bi-partisan resolution that forces all senators and their staff to undergo sexual harassment training.
Beth Jones says in order for the training to be effective, it must me thorough. “The feat that I have is that if they do a relatively short online course that they can check off the box and say ‘okay I read that’ then I don’t think it will have any impact at all.”
Right now, the resolution only applies to members of the senate and their staff, but jones hopes to see a similar resolution in the House of Representatives. Senators, staff members and interns will have 60 days to complete the training and are required to repeat it each session of congress.
