A man wanted in the Thanksgiving shooting death of a Texas state trooper has been captured.
The state trooper was fatally shot Thursday afternoon during a traffic stop near Fairfield, about 70 miles south of Dallas. His killer fled.
The suspect, Dabrett Black, was spotted and arrested late last night in Waller, Waller County, near Prairie View, about 130 miles from the crime scene. Waller County Sheriff's spokeswoman Dana Lewis says a deputy found Black hiding in a pasture.
The State Attorney General's Office, in a statement overnight, says Trooper Damon Allen, a 41-year-old father of three, "died selflessly serving Texas."
