U-T Health, HFD hold mass casualty drills today

If you are near the HFD training facility today and hear things like sirens, gunshots and explosions, you might get alarmed. But you shouldn’t.

That's because UT Health and HFD are conducting a mass casualty drill today. Dr. Kevin Schulz with UT Health says it's all about training students.

“We are getting them some exposure to a disaster, mass casualty kind of incident. We do a lot of education in terms of medical treatment,” Schulz explained.

But Schulz also says all the training in the world may not help when real life throws a curveball.

“You can’t plan for every scenario,” Schulz stated. “No two ever look the same.

But the drill is about getting the students and HFD exposure to these situations.
