Former Presidents Host Benefit Concert Tonight

Tonight the five living former U.S. presidents will appear together onstage at the “Deep From the Heart: The One America Appeal” concert at 7 at Texas A & M’s Reed Arena.

Headliners of the concert include Alabama, the Gatlin Brothers, Lyle Lovett, and Robert Earl Keen, among others.

Presidents Obama, Bush 43, Clinton, Bush 41, and Carter will be there as well.

Lee Greenwood, who will emcee the show, tells KTRH News this isn’t his first show with five presidents.  He was asked to perform at the grand opening of the Reagan Library in Southern California in 1991.  “President Reagan was there at the time.  President Bush 41 was President but it was Reagan’s day.  The five presidents were Reagan, Bush, Carter, Nixon and Ford, and all of their wives including Lady Bird Johnson,” he recalls.

The One America Appeal was originally launched by all five living former Presidents to encourage charitable giving to support recovery efforts from Hurricane Harvey.  The special appeal was expanded to include areas affected by Hurricanes Irma and Maria as well.

In Texas donated funds will go to the Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund focusing on the greater Houston area, and the Rebuild Texas Fund helping communities across the state. If you can’t make it to the concert, you can mail a check to:
