Game One of the American League Championship Series is here at Minute Maid Park, as the Astros, who have put the city on their backs in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, host the New York Yankees.
The Astros are bringing legends back for the game to celebrate their League Championship Series teams of the past. Nolan Ryan, Jose Cruz, Lance Berkman, Jeff Bagwell and Craig Biggio will all be there. Team President Reid Ryan tells KTRH Minute Maid Park will be rocking.
“People saw how loud it was for the last series. They are going to come out and do their part. Our guys have to play the games, but I know one thing; our fans are behind them,” Ryan explained.
And thanks to the Yankees eliminating Cleveland, the Astros will have home field advantage for this best of seven affair.
“That’s a big deal. When the Indians were up 2-0, I thought that was gone. A lot of people were starting to make plans to go to Cleveland,” Ryan stated.
Former Astros Manager Phil Garner throws out the first pitch tonight. Dallas Keuchel starts against New York's Masahiro Tanaka. First pitch after 7pm on our sister station, Sports Talk 790.
