Custom Chopper to be Auctioned for Harvey Relief

Mattress Mack invites people to bid on a one-of-a-kind motorcycle for Harvey relief on Thursday.

Orange County Choppers of TV fame has created a bike with a "Texas Strong" theme. It'll be auctioned at 6 p.m. Thursday at Gallery Furniture’s North Freeway location.

New York auctioneer Arlan Ettinger of Guernsey’s will hammer the gavel.

The chopper stretches 124 inches and has a tricked-out gas tank and rear fender. Orange County Choppers, the most famous maker of one-of-a-kind chopper motorcycles, is the creator.

New York City-based Guernsey’s will be conducting the event with auction proceeds going to support the Peace of Mind Foundation and those whose mental health has been severely impacted by Hurricane Harvey. T

The 6 p.m. auction will be conducted live at Gallery Furniture, 6006 North Freeway.

Under the guidance of Paul Teutul Sr., the exploits of OCC became a sensation for nearly a decade, effectively creating the world of reality television. Week after week, the shop produced one outrageous themed creation after another, pushing the boundaries of motorcycle design. 

Sporting the “Texas Strong” banner, the long, lean custom chopper features red, white and blue regalia. The 124-inch twin-cam, six-speed bike has a tricked-out rear fender, syringe exhaust, unique gas tank andother one-off features.

Gallery Furniture -- the setting for the event -- and the McIngvale family provided extensive community support during Harvey. Gallery opened its doors to provide food and shelter to those in greatest need.
