A new park opens Monday in downtown Houston. Known as the Acre, it will take up just over one acre of private land. It was developed with private money. The park is part of a multimillion-dollar renovation of One Allen Center on the west side of downtown.
In post-Harvey Houston, urban planners say every little bit of unpaved land can help soak up rainwater. The park includes a plaza and a lawn space that can seat up to 15-hundred people for concerts or other events.
