Beltran Goes to Bat for Hurricane Victims

Houston Astros slugger Carlos Beltran has donated a million dollars to his native Puerto Rico in the wake of the devastation left behind by Hurricane Maria.  He established a fund through crowdrise.com to raise money for hurricane victims.

Beltran’s parents still live in Puerto Rico, and he has reportedly been unable to reach them.

Several other high-profile Puerto Ricans have also started fundraisers, including Hall of Famer Ivan Rodriguez,  the Cardinals’ Yadier Molina, Dodgers outfielder Enrique Hernandez,  and former Yankees great Jorge Posada.

More than a half-dozen deaths have been attributed to the storm, and power on some parts of the island could be out for months.
