Recovery efforts in full swing

Many of you that were impacted by Hurricane Harvey are already seeing recovery efforts going full steam ahead. That help is partly coming from Washington and FEMA. Acting DHS Secretary Elaine Duke told KTRH they are concentrating on two things.

“We are focusing on individual and public assistance. The individual assistance deals with people getting back into their homes, and housing them temporarily,” Duke explained.

Fort Bend County was hard hit by Harvey, and County Judge Robert Hebert says the recovery process is moving along.

“We are in the process. Our assets are fully deployed,” Hebert stated.

But because of Hurricane Irma he knows they aren't getting more assets. And Irma is an issue for Galveston County Judge Mark Henry, too.

“There are a finite amount of resources. They need to be split between two different theatres. We are concerned, though we do have two different types of storms we are dealing with,” Henry explained, and adding his county is still involved with Hurricane Ike recovery plans.

Elsewhere, the benefit for storm relief put together by Houston rapper Bun B and featuring performers like Beyonce takes place tonight. It will air on our sister station, Sunny 99.1.
