Harvey damages oil tanks

Hurricane Harvey not only damaged many homes in the Houston area, but more than two dozen storage tanks holding crude oil failed because of the storm.

Oil industry expert Tim Snyder tells KTRH this was, as far as those tanks are concerned, a minor event.

“The total is about 145,000 gallons. That is miniscule. It was a minor event,” Snyder stated.

So will this have an impact on gas prices?

“It will have no effect. The biggest effect we will see is some of the tensions easing because of Harvey and Irma,” Snyder explained.

The average price for gas this morning in Houston is $2.43 a gallon.
