The body of a Baytown woman who has been missing since August 26th has been found. Chambers County Sheriff’s Deputies and Texas Rangers discovered 37-year old Crystal McDowell in a wooded area near her home.
McDowell was last seen on surveillance video leaving her boyfriend’s house; she was heading to pick up her two children.
Authorities say 44-year old Stephen McDowell, the victim’s ex-husband, has been charged with her murder. They have not yet disclosed a motive, but say more details will be released in the coming days.
Authorities had long claimed her disappearance was suspicious, and not related to Hurricane Harvey. The Baytown realtor’s car was found at a hotel several days ago, submerged in floodwater.
The couple’s two children are in CPS custody.
