The evacuation order has been lifted within the 1.5 mile zone around Arkema plant in Crosby.
Harris County Fire Marshal released the following statement about Arkema Inc.:
On Sept. 3, Arkema Inc. in coordination with unified command took proactive measures to initiate a controlled ignition of the remaining trailers. All nine trailers, which were filled with a refrigerated organic peroxide, have burned. The measures taken did not pose any additional risk to the community. Air monitoring by multiple state, federal and local agencies will continue. All data collected to date indicates no impact to air quality. The 1.5 mile evacuation zone is still in place. Arkema Inc. is working with local, state and federal officials on repatriation of the affected area.
