The Harris County Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Management says the quickest way for Harvey-impacted residents to register for FEMA assistance is by registering online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov.
Those unable to access the internet can call 1-800-621-3362. People with a speech disability or hearing loss who use TTY, should call 1-800-462-7585. Those who use 711 or Video Relay Service should call call 1-800-621-3362.
There's also a FEMA app available for Apple, Android and Blackberry mobile devices.
The following will be necessary to complete an application:
- Social Security number
- Address where the damage occurred
- Current mailing address
- Current telephone number
- Insurance information
- Total annual household income
- The routing and account numbers for the checking or savings account to which FEMA can directly transfer disaster-assistance funds.
- A description of your disaster-caused damage and losses
