The Harris County Animal Shelter will be open 2-4 p.m. Tuesday to allow owners to reclaim lost pets that may have entered the shelter on or before Saturday. The shelter has not flooded, however minimal staff will be on duty.
The three-day hold requirement for stray animals has been temporarily lifted to move animals out of the shelter as soon as possible.
No additional animals have entered the shelter since Saturday, so pets lost after that will not be there.
Regular shelter services will resume when adequate staffing can be restored.
